Every child follows the same proven path, from their very first idea to a real brand, a website and a launch night. Here is the whole journey, in plain English.
To show you how it works, we follow one child's business the whole way, BLOOM candle co, from a blank page to a real launch night. Every week ends with something real in their hands.
Every week follows the same five-beat rhythm, so your child always knows what's coming. The Make block is the heart of it: they leave every session holding something real.
Tap any week to see exactly what happens, what they make, and their at-home mission.
What happens: They discover what an entrepreneur really is (a mindset anyone can grow) and meet real kid founders, including a Melbourne teenager who started a doughnut business in his family kitchen.
They make: Turn their hobbies and favourite things into a page of business ideas, plus a first sketch.
At-home mission: Interview a family member: what would they happily pay someone to fix?
Kid foundersBrainstormingWhat happens: They brainstorm wide with a mind map, test their best ideas, then commit to ONE business they will build for the rest of the program.
They make: A mind map and a chosen business idea, written as one clear sentence.
At-home mission: Find 3 local businesses that started small.
Mind-mappingDecision-makingWhat happens: Why "everyone" is nobody: they go on a customer safari, pick the one person their business is really for, and practise interviewing them.
They make: A drawn and described customer persona: a name, a face, what they love and their big worry.
At-home mission: Ask 2 real people what they would want from the business.
EmpathyInterviewingWhat happens: Same product, twenty brands: why would anyone pick theirs? They study real rivals and find the gap nobody has filled.
They make: A rival scan and an "only we…" superpower statement, backed by a reason.
At-home mission: Find a rival online and note one thing they would do better.
ResearchThinking criticallyWhat happens: They work out what ONE of their products really costs (pack price ÷ how many), learn the "cost × 2" rule, and see how profit works using real coins.
They make: A cost breakdown, a real price with reasons, a "how many to sell" goal and a one-page action plan.
At-home mission: Check real supply prices at the shops or online.
Money mathsPlanningWhat happens: Before designing anything, they decide how the brand should feel: colours with a job, three vibe words, and a real inspiration hunt like a creative director.
They make: Three brand words, a colour palette and a vision board built in Canva (after gathering inspiration together on Pinterest).
At-home mission: Spot 3 brands they love and the feeling their colours give.
Colour & moodCanvaCreative directionWhat happens: What makes a name memorable, and how to pick one that leaves room to grow. They brainstorm, shortlist and test names like the pros.
They make: A shortlist of names, then the chosen business name.
At-home mission: Test 3 names on family: which one sticks?
WordplayTesting ideasWhat happens: Guess-the-brand-from-just-the-logo: they learn why the best logos are simple, then sketch their own.
They make: Sketched logo ideas, turned into one clean digital logo in Canva.
At-home mission: Spot 5 logos in the wild and note what makes them work.
DesignCanvaWhat happens: What a great business card says about you in three seconds. Everything so far comes together into one brand.
They make: A mini brand sheet (name, logo, colours, words) and real printed business cards.
At-home mission: Hand a card to their very first "customer".
Brand systemPrintingWhat happens: They tour real kid-business websites, borrow the best ideas, then put their business online for real.
They make: A published one-page website anyone can open on a phone, built in Canva with a grown-up.
At-home mission: Share the live link with family for feedback.
Web designCanvaWhat happens: What makes an ad make you stop scrolling? They create a bold print ad and turn their brand into something you can wear.
They make: A printed ad or poster, plus an iron-on merch item like a tee or tote.
At-home mission: Put the ad somewhere real, and wear the merch.
MarketingMakingWhat happens: They present the whole business to family and friends: the story, the customer, the brand reveal, the live website, and "ask the founder anything".
They make: A live pitch, a Founder's Certificate, and a business they built from a blank page.
At-home mission: Stretch goal: plan a real market stall.
Public speakingConfidenceChildren learn the same tools real founders and designers use, always set up and supervised by a grown-up. Nothing goes public without a parent's OK.
Every week opens with a true story about a young person who actually did it.
By launch night, BLOOM candle co is a real, finished business, every piece made by the child.
The twelve weeks end in a launch, and we're planning a real one-day market day for founders to take their businesses to. Melbourne's own kids' business fair, inspired by the global Children's Business Fair movement and planned for right here at the Studio, where young founders aged 6–17 set up a stall, sell to real customers, and keep every dollar they earn.
Turn an idea into a real product (candles, comics, cookies, crafts), built with their own hands.
A real stall, real customers, real money. They run the stand and pitch it themselves, safely, to the community.
They set the prices, make the change, and take home everything they earn, plus a big lift in confidence.
Our program's graduates, plus any budding entrepreneur in the community.
Planned for the Studio in South Yarra. First date announced soon.
